{"id":4839,"date":"2025-02-11T21:21:34","date_gmt":"2025-02-11T21:21:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/nebn.davidbeyer.ca\/?p=4839"},"modified":"2025-02-11T21:21:35","modified_gmt":"2025-02-11T21:21:35","slug":"job-opportunity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nebnetwork.org\/fr\/job-opportunity\/","title":{"rendered":"Job Opportunity!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Location:<\/strong>&nbsp;Remote, in or near the Niagara Escarpment Biosphere region<br><strong>Contract length:<\/strong>&nbsp;1 year, with intent to extend<br><strong>Wage:&nbsp;<\/strong>$60,000-63,000<br><strong>Deadline to apply:<\/strong>&nbsp;February 24, 2025 \u2014 applications will be evaluated on a rolling basis until the position is filled<br><strong>Anticipated start date:<\/strong>&nbsp;April 1, 2025<br><br><strong>POSITION SUMMARY<\/strong><br>The Niagara Escarpment Biosphere Network (NEBN) is seeking a candidate for a manager to guide and manage the activities of the Niagara Escarpment Biosphere Network, in collaboration with the board of directors, including outreach and communications, fundraising, relationship-building and engagement with network members of various sectors (e.g., conservation, environmental, municipal, Non-Government Organizations, tourism, private sector, etc.), education, conservation and environmental stewardship activities, research and evaluation.<br><br>The Niagara Escarpment Biosphere has transitioned to a non-governmental, not-for-profit organization. The purpose of this transition was to better connect the community and stakeholders with the biosphere and create a sense of shared responsibility among these groups. Among the Biosphere\u2019s many objectives, education remains one of the most prioritized efforts; to engage with the public and promote awareness of ecology and environmental issues along the Niagara Escarpment. To further the goals of the Biosphere, engagement with the public regarding education on conservation efforts and sustainable development has been identified as a priority. Learn more about the NEBN at&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/nebn.davidbeyer.ca\/history\/\">nebnetwork.org\/history\/<\/a><br><br><strong>KEY RESPONSIBILITIES&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Manage and oversee the operations of the organization<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Collaborate with the current organizational administrator (Plenty Canada) to transition the NEBN to an independently operating organization<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Collaborate with the board of directors to oversee fundraising efforts to support the organization\u2019s activities, (including the development of a team of staff)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Collaborate with the board of directors to lead and develop relationship-building amoung members of the network (including First Nations, other Indigenous communities, NGOS, government bodies (municipalities, etc.), colleges and universities, private sector, and other organizations and communities), through events, meetings, conservation and other community activities, electronic communications, social media, etc.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Collaborate with the board of directors to lead and develop training and capacity-building for network partners in Ethical Space, Indigenous history, Two-Eyed Seeing, Co-Governance, and conservation topics<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Collaborate with the board of directors to oversee communications activities<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Collaborate with the board treasurer to oversee the finances of the organization<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Collaborate with the board of directors to identify and support conservation activities within the NEB and continue to support the network partners with the identification and maintenance of the KBAs and OECMs in the buffer and transition zones of the NEB<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Collaborate with the board of directors to create a plan to build a team of staff to support the organization\u2019s activities, and manage recruitment<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Support the board in keeping the organization in good standing, including answering correspondence, reporting to funders, and addressing the UNESCO requirements to maintain biosphere designation (including GIS\/mapping of the biosphere)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Keep accurate records of activities undertaken<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Other duties as required<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>JOB REQUIREMENTS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Ability to build productive relationships with various rightsholders and stakeholders including First Nations, other Indigenous communities, NGOS, government bodies, private sector, and other organizations and communities).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experience working with Indigenous nations and communities along with a commitment to work in a relational way.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ability to understand work within a co-governance model based on Ethical Space and Two-Eyed Seeing through the collaboration of western and Indigenous governance systems<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ability to work remotely, communicate effectively with a wide range of people and organizations, develop plans and monitor progress, and provide accurate and timely reporting.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A strong leader and self-starter who\u2019s not afraid to ask for guidance.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Strong written\/verbal\/relational communication skills.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Demonstrated adaptability, professionalism, attention to detail, collaboration, teamwork, self-direction, and initiative.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Strong coordination, problem solving, organizing, planning skills.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experience with Indigenous Knowledge Systems and\/or western education Environmental Sciences or Social Sciences is an asset.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>At least 3 years of experience in a managerial position.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experience with proposal writing\/fundraising.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experience and knowledge of not-for-profit\/charity work.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>APPLICATION PROCESS<\/strong><br>To apply, please send your Resume and Cover Letter with this position\u2019s title in the subject line of your email to&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:jobs@plentycanada.com\">jobs@plentycanada.com<\/a>.
